The remains of veterans found among unclaimed ashes left sitting for more than a decade are being escorted to their final resting place. The volunteer organization, The Patriot Guard motorcycle riders, will escort the caravan to San Antonio from the Potter County Courthouse where the remains were found. The escort passed through Snyder yesterday.
Joel Carver, founder of Lighthouse Funeral Home and Missing In America Project representative, researched the backgrounds on these unclaimed ashes and found that 17 individuals were veterans. They will be escorted to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for internment.
The Missing In America Veterans Recovery Program is a non-profit organization that has identified and interred almost 4,000 missing veterans across the country.
