Severe Weather
SKYWARN, a nationwide program sponsored by the National Weather Service, is active in Snyder, under the oversight of the Snyder Fire Department, as part of the Snyder Department of Emergency Management.  Trained spotters deploy and monitor severe weather, and assist the NWS with information critical to warning notifications.

In 2010, Snyder was recognized as a StormReady community, following a period of preparedness and application to the NWS by the Snyder Department of Emergency Management.
