The City of Snyder is proud to have achieved an ISO
Public Protection Classification rating of 3.
The classification is a split classification 3/8B, which includes an OPA (outside protected area), so the line is not necessarily drawn at the city limits anymore. There are numerous residents and businesses in the county who can get the class-3 credit, and several more county residents who will improve from the previous 9 to 8B.
These ratings were assigned in March 2011 following a comprehensive ISO survey and inspection, and became effective August 1st, 2011.
With the split Class 3/8B, all class-rated properties located within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant, and within 5 miles of a fire station will use Class-3. All class-rated properties located farther than 1000 feet of a fire hydrant but within 5 miles of a fire station will use Class 8B. Properties not meeting the above criteria are classified as a Class 10.
